With the weather nothing is EVER guarenteed. I have scheduled sessions with absolute down pours at 8am and when the session time came around there wasn't a drop of water to be found. I have been rained out and rescheduled and I have also photographed in 15 degree weather and dealt with it.

Rain, Snow, Wind & Flu

Rain

A few days before your session, I’ll touch base with you to finalize the start time based on the hourly weather forecast.
Please note, there's no point in checking the weather weeks in advance and asking for a rain date. Weather forecasts can be pretty unreliable more than a couple of days out. The only exception would be if a hurricane is on the way—then we can usually predict that a few days ahead and reschedule if needed.
Morning has dew. If it rained a few hours prior, the ground may be wet. I do have a way to keep blankets from getting wet just note if your child sits in the grass off the blanket they may be leaving with a wet bottom!
Many times families will freak out with a 40% chance of rain on their day and not realize the rain is early morning or midday and their session is sunset. And I do not reschedule for 20% chance of rain. And no. I don’t reschedule if it’s cloudy.

snow

I love the magic that snow brings to photos, but I know it can present some unique challenges. We can absolutely move forward with your session as long as both of us feel comfortable with the conditions. We’ll want to be mindful of the weather, temperature, and how long we’ll be outside.
Layers are important and use handwarmers for the little ones (and you) to help keep warm (put them inside pockets and against their long johns to keep them warm! Be practical with kids. A frozen child is an unhappy child and harder to get to smile.
If the weather conditions make it unsafe to go ahead with the session (e.g., heavy snow, ice, or dangerous driving conditions), we’ll reschedule for another day. Your safety is my priority, and I’d rather find a better time to get those perfect shots.
If you have any concerns about the weather, don’t hesitate to reach out and we’ll make a plan that works for you.

wind

Even a Late March Outdoor Session at 50 degrees with a high wind chill can be hard to navigate with kids. The last time I did this the kids were freezing and wanting to snuggle up to their blankets which meant it was harder to caption candids. While certainly not impossible, just harder to get the picture you desire.
Wind can be tricky with hair flying in faces but I have made it work before! I am all for capturing the moment not magazine worthy perfection.

Flu

Please let me know as soon as you can if you are sick and experiencing what you might think is COVID or Flu-like symptoms and get tested. I’ll figure out a reschedule date for you the following week if your results are negative, and in at least 3 weeks if you are positive and you still would like a session. I see so many families each week that I would be devastated if I bring an illness to another household so please, please be upfront with me. I’ll make a reschedule date work!!
